NEWS - Dinosaur Takeover

Our Dinosaur Takeover was a roaring success! 🦖

Families enjoyed a fantastic prehistoric adventure at Vancouver Quarter, with visitors getting up close to our Jurassic Jeep, meeting incredible walking dinosaurs, and capturing plenty of unforgettable photos along the way. The free event brought smiles, excitement, and lots of ROAR-some memories for little explorers and dinosaur fans of all ages.

Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make this year’s Dinosaur Takeover such a huge success — we loved seeing so many families come along for a dino-mite day of fun!

Easter Egg-stravaganza

Vancouver Quarter was buzzing with excitement on Saturday 4th April as families gathered for the hugely successful FREE Easter Egg-Stravaganza event in the heart of King’s Lynn.

Held in collaboration with Discover King's Lynn, the event welcomed visitors of all ages for a fun-filled day of Easter entertainment, activities, and family-friendly fun.

Guests enjoyed meeting the Easter Bunny in the brand-new Bunny Burrow, complete with plenty of photo opportunities, while the Glitter Bar, live music, and street entertainment kept the celebrations going throughout the day.

Children also took part in the popular Easter Trail, earning a chocolatey treat at the finish, alongside creative activities including Easter bonnet decorating and Easter biscuit decorating.

The fantastic turnout and vibrant atmosphere made the event a huge success, bringing Easter magic to Vancouver Quarter and creating memorable moments for families across the community.

NEWS - In our 'Swiftie' Era

Our FREE 'Shake it off' event welcomed families to enjoy a variety of interactive activities, including a popular glitter bar, hands-on friendship bracelet making, and a lively sing-along session led by our very own 'Swiftie', who had the crowd singing and dancing to favorite hits.

Children and adults alike embraced the spirit, trading bracelets, showing off their glittery designs, and sharing unforgettable moments together. The event created a welcoming, joyful atmosphere that celebrated music, creativity, and community connection.

NEWS - Fright-fully good Halloween fun!

Thousands of families enjoyed a fantastic free Halloween celebration in King’s Lynn at the weekend, organised by Discover King’s Lynn and Vancouver Quarter. The town centre came alive with spooky sights, thrilling entertainment, and fun for all ages.

Children dressed in their creepiest costumes, followed a Halloween-themed trail through the town, collecting stickers at every stop. From wizards to witches, the town was buzzing with excitement as families enjoyed the event.  Once completed, children were rewarded with a bag of sweets — a sweet ending to a ghostly good adventure!

One of the event’s show-stopping highlights was the arrival of a ghostly pirate ship, which sailed the streets offering pirate-themed shows at regular intervals. Audiences were captivated by the pirate crew's spooky stories, swashbuckling antics, and lively performances that delighted both children and adults alike.

Adding to the spooky charm, fans of Wednesday Addams were thrilled to meet moody lookalike ‘Moody Madams’ for photo opportunities which brought smiles (and spooky stares) to fans throughout the day.

“This event was a huge success and brought such a brilliant energy to the town,” said Shelley Overson, Assistant Manager for Vancouver Quarter. “It was fantastic to see so many families come together to enjoy Halloween in a safe, free, and inclusive environment.”

NEWS - Families Flock to Vancouver Quarter for Magical Beatrix Potter Event

The world of Beatrix Potter sprang to life at the Vancouver Quarter Shopping Centre, as families gathered for a free Beatrix Potter-themed event that charmed children and adults alike.

The event drew a large audience eager to join in the storytelling magic. The main attraction was an interactive story session that brought some of Beatrix Potter’s most beloved characters to life. Children sat wide-eyed as professional storytellers guided them through the adventures of Peter Rabbit and his friends, with many youngsters invited to join in during key parts of the performance.

Laughter and excitement filled the air as little ones eagerly helped narrate the stories, adding their own energy and imagination to the timeless tales.

Following the story session, children were delighted to meet and greet life-sized characters from the Beatrix Potter collection. Peter Rabbit himself proved to be a firm favourite, posing for countless photos and sharing hugs with his adoring fans. Other characters including Mr Todd, Mrs. Tiggy-Winkle and Miss Potter also made appearances, adding to the joy of the afternoon.

It was wonderful to see so many children so engaged, they weren’t just listening – they were a part of the story. With smiles all around and a touch of nostalgia in the air, the Beatrix Potter event proved to be a resounding success — and a gentle reminder of the magic that stories can bring.

NEWS - Vancouver Quarter Transformed by Swashbuckling Pirate Adventure

Vancouver Quarter Shopping Centre was awash with excitement as a spectacular Pirate Adventure event drew large crowds and created unforgettable moments for families across King’s Lynn and beyond.

The free family event saw the centre come alive with immersive entertainment, including a life-sized wooden pirate ship, which “sailed” through the shopping centre hosting live pirate shows and interactive performances. Visitors were treated to a vibrant atmosphere filled with giant bubbles, balloon modelling, and appearances from magical mermaid characters, all adding to the nautical fun.

Many children attended in fancy dress, and many embraced the theme with creative pirate and mermaid costumes. A highlight of the day was the treasure trail around the town, which led young adventurers on a quest ending in a golden surprise – chocolate coins and themed gifts.

The event proved a major draw for the community, with hundreds of attendees enjoying the wide range of free activities on offer.

“We’re absolutely delighted with the turnout and the atmosphere on the day. We’re proud to support our local community with fun, free activities that everyone can enjoy.” said Shelley Overson, Vancouver Quarter Assistant Manager

The Pirate Adventure forms part of Vancouver Quarter’s ongoing programme of community-focused events, with more exciting experiences set to follow in the coming months.

NEWS - HIGH-SPEED fun with CBeebies GRACE WEBB!

Not even the rain could put the brakes on the excitement at our Grace's Amazing Machines event on Saturday! Despite the soggy skies, enthusiastic crowds poured in from all over the country, eager to experience the high-octane fun and fascinating world of motorbikes.

Families, children, and machine lovers of all ages came out in full force, raincoats and all, to see the amazing live shows and meet and greet with Grace Webb.

“It was amazing to see so many smiling faces despite the weather. We’re so thankful to everyone who came out and made the day so special.” said Shelley Overson, Vancouver Quarter Assistant Manager.

Throughout the day, attendees cheered, learned, and even got to see a demo of one of the bikes.

NEWS - Vancouver Quarter is looking Blooming Beautiful!

King’s Lynn’s Vancouver Quarter’s flower planters have once again been beautifully transformed thanks to a local charity. 

Forward, who are located on Broad Street in the Vancouver Quarter, are looking after the four large planters in the shopping centre and have given each of them a theme which represent famous people from Kings Lynn.  Members of the charity, adults who have learning disabilities and autism, came up with the ideas and have created and handmade the designs themselves.  

The first planter, outside HSBC, has a racing car to represent Martin Brundle OBE, a broadcaster and former Formula One racing driver who won the World Sportscar Championship in 1988.  The planter is full of pretty flowers ready to bloom.  

The second planter, outside Boyes, represents Roger Taylor OBE, he is best known as the Drummer and backing vocalist for Queen. The wooden drums are surrounded by beautiful flowers which we are sure will be enjoyed by both shoppers and bees alike .  

The third planter, outside Superdrug, has another local twist – this time focussing on Captain George Vancouver who is famous for sailing with Captain Cook then mapping out the North American Northwest Coast.  A handmade ship has been planted with pretty white flowers surrounding the model.   

The final planter is outside the charity’s unit, on Broad Street and has been designed to represent Frederick Savage, who invented steam powered fairground machinery.  The planter is home to a model of a handmade wooden carousel.  Each individual horse on the carousel has been hand painted by members of Forward.  The planter is full of golden flowers which we look forward to seeing bloom over the coming weeks. 

The Vancouver Quarter has financially supported the charity to help them create and maintain the planters. Manager of the Vancouver Quarter Alistair Cox said: “We’re delighted with what Forward have done in the planters. So much hard work has gone into both coming up with the ideas and bringing them to life.”

NEWS - DRAGON ADVENTURE WEEKEND

To celebrate the recent live action film, How to Train Your Dragon, we hosted a weekend full of mystical fun! Dragons swooped into the Vancouver Quarter and entertained the whole family, whilst our smoke breathing dragon stomped its way around the shopping centre.

Children were able to complete a quest to find dragons loacted in store windows around the Vancouver Quarter, once completed they were put into a draw to win one of three prizes! There were also plenty of photo opportunites for the brave to enjoy!

A huge thank you to all who joined us for an action packed weekend! We look forward to seeing you at future, FREE events in the Vancouver Quarter!

Boyes - NOW OPEN

We are very excited to announce that the Vancouver Quarter has welcomed the opening of a popular family-owned department store - Boyes

It is located on New Conduit Street in the previously occupied Wilko building. Shoppers can expect to find everything from everyday essentials and fashion to household goods, craft supplies, electrical items, DIY tools, leisure products, and a wide array of seasonal items. The ever-changing nature of their stock ensures that each visit to Boyes will offer something new and exciting.

Centre Manager Alistair Cox said “The arrival of Boyes is a very welcome addition to the Vancouver Quarter, filling a gap left by Wilko’s closure in February 2024. Having spoken to their area manager I know they are eager to become an integral part of the local shopping landscape and contribute to the vibrancy of the town centre. I’m sure that their unique blend of value, variety, and friendly service will resonate with the people of West Norfolk ”.

Snow White meet & greet

To celebrate the NEW live action Snow White film, we hosted a magical FREE event for you all to enjoy!

Families were able to enjoy photo opportunites and meet and greet appearances with our beautiful Snow White. We held a trail to find the 7 Dwarfs located around the Vancouver Quarter to be entered into a prize draw to win family cinema bundles and prizes up for grabs.

news - FESTIVE FUN in the vancouver quarter

We've had some great festive fun here in the Vancouver Quarter! We teamed up with Discover King's Lynn to bring you a programme of FREE festive fun to enjoy!

Hundreds of families turned out to enjoy our Festive Fun weekend. Children were able to enjoy a range of festive craft workshops hosted in The Place, activities included cupcake decorating, making reindeer food, letter writing to Santa and much more. The awesome Granny Turismo entertained shoppers on their shopping trolleys whilst live music entertained the crowds.
